Up for auction is a vintage My Child Doll from Mattel, made in the 1980s. I don’t know a lot about these dolls. She (or he?) was a thrift store rescue that I hope to get to someone who can fix her up and restore her to her former glory.
This doll is TLC and will need some work. Her short hair will need to be restyled and is a bit matted. Her cloth body and face could use some cleaning, and she’s got some flaws in the fabric of her face next to her mouth (see the third picture). There’s a little bit of pilling and wrinkling on the material of her face, and she doesn’t have much color left in her lips or cheeks. There are also some rub marks on her eyes. Her “My Child” heart on her buns is in decent shape. She has a small hole in the back of her head along the seam that looks like it would be an easy repair, and the thread on her left foot has also come loose and will need repair as well. My home is smoke-free and pet friendly, although I am located in northern California, so because of the current fires in the area, I can’t guarantee my items won’t smell a little like fire smoke. I CAN guarantee they won’t smell like cigarette smoke, though.
